Artificial grass provides a true and fast surface for hockey players and has become the standard for hockey internationally. There are three basic artificial grass systems used in hockey, namely Sand-Filled, Sand Dressed and the Wet systems.
SHOCKPADS
Shockpads provide a cushioning layer underneath the artificial grass. Reduces impact from running and falling on turf and provides the correct ball bounce. We can offer a variety of shockpads for different sporting requirements.
THE SAND FILLED SYSTEM
The sand filled system was widely used in the past as it provided a fast and true surface at an economical price. The sand filled system is highly durable but is abrasive and offers little in player comfort.
THE SAND DRESSED SYSTEM
The latest development in artificial grass is the new sand-dressed systems. These are very close in playing characteristics to the wet systems if the correct yarn is used. Besides financial savings on water, one has the advantage of not having to water the facility before practices and games, which would normally have to involve a person to oversee.
THE WET SYSTEM
The Wet System has become the standard for most international hockey. These systems offer the most in player comfort and are widely used at professional level.
